SkinnyRx vs TrimRx: Which Compounded GLP-1 Costs Less?
By WPG Research Team · Last verified · Last updated
SkinnyRx costs less month to month. On November 4, 2026, SkinnyRx listed compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide shots at $99 for the first month, then $249 and $299 a month on a month-to-month plan. TrimRx's terms list $299 and $399 a month after the first month. TrimRx is the pick if you live in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi, or want a 28-day window to get unused prepaid months back.
Below: our SkinnyRx vs TrimRx breakdown, with year-one cost, the refund rules on each side, the FDA letter SkinnyRx got this year, and who should pick which.
Weight Loss Provider Guide is an independent comparison resource for GLP-1 telehealth providers.
Bottom line: For compounded shots paid month to month, SkinnyRx is cheaper every month. SkinnyRx also offers tablets and the FDA-approved Wegovy pill. TrimRx serves all 50 states and has a clearer refund rule for prepaid months.
Best for SkinnyRx: Cash payers who want a low first month, a lower monthly price, or the option of a pill.
Best for TrimRx: People in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi, or anyone who wants to pay with PayPal or Afterpay.
Not best for either: Anyone pregnant or under 18. GLP-1 safety: do not use if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have MEN 2.
What matters most: Both mainly sell compounded drugs, which are not FDA-approved. If you want an FDA-approved drug or insurance help, see GLP-1 providers that accept insurance.

See SkinnyRx's plansThe short version
Both companies connect you with licensed online clinicians who can prescribe compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. Neither bills insurance. Both ship to your door and charge one price that includes the visit, the medicine and shipping.
The differences that matter:
- Price. SkinnyRx is $50 to $100 a month cheaper after month one, and $100 to $250 cheaper in month one.
- Choices. SkinnyRx also sells compounded tablets and the FDA-approved Wegovy pill and Foundayo. TrimRx's main program is compounded shots.
- States. SkinnyRx's compounded drugs aren't sold in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi. TrimRx serves all 50 states.
- FDA record. The FDA sent SkinnyRx a warning letter in February 2026 about its marketing. We found none for TrimRx.
Both sell compounded drugs. Here's what that means.
Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are made by pharmacies, not the drug makers. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they're sold. They are not the same as Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro or Zepbound.
What each company says:
- SkinnyRx says its partner pharmacies send medicine to third-party labs. It says potency is tested every 3 to 6 months and must be within 10% of the right strength. It also lists sterility and endotoxin tests. SkinnyRx's pages don't name the pharmacy.
- TrimRx says its compounded drugs are "prepared and shipped by a state-licensed sterile compounding pharmacy" and "produced in FDA-registered facilities but are not FDA-approved."
TrimRx didn't name its pharmacy on the pages we opened. In May, our check found TrimRx naming Olympia Pharmaceuticals and Empower Pharmacy. See what pharmacy TrimRx uses. With either company, check the pharmacy name on your label when it arrives.
Is SkinnyRx cheaper than TrimRx?
Yes, on every month-to-month price we found. TrimRx's lowest year we've recorded is a prepaid plan from August, which we couldn't recheck.
SkinnyRx's compounded shot prices (November 4):
| Plan | Semaglutide | Tirzepatide |
|---|---|---|
| First month | $99 | $99 |
| Month to month, after month one | $249 | $299 |
| 4-month plan, after month one | $225 | $289 |
| 6-month plan, after month one | $215 | $250 |
| 12-month plan, after month one | $199 | $225 |
SkinnyRx's product pages carry a "$99 GLP-1 Injections: While Supplies Last" banner. Treat the $99 first month as an intro price that could end. The pages we opened don't say whether longer plans are charged up front. Ask before you pick one.
TrimRx's prices (November 4):
- Its home page says compounded semaglutide is "Starting at $179" and compounded tirzepatide is "Starting at $279."
- Its terms list semaglutide at $199 for the first month and $299 for follow-ups, and tirzepatide at $349, then $399.
- TrimRx's home page says your cost "remains steady, even as your dose changes."
We couldn't see TrimRx's checkout price without doing its intake. The home page and the terms don't match, so we show both.
Year-one cost, compounded semaglutide
| Plan | How we got it | Year-one total |
|---|---|---|
| SkinnyRx, 12-month plan | $99 + 11 × $199 | $2,288 |
| SkinnyRx, month to month | $99 + 11 × $249 | $2,838 |
| TrimRx, prices in its terms | $199 + 11 × $299 | $3,488 |
| TrimRx, if $179 held all year | 12 × $179 (not confirmed) | $2,148 |
| TrimRx, 48-week prepay we recorded August 7 | Checkout total | $1,552 |
Year-one cost, compounded tirzepatide
| Plan | How we got it | Year-one total |
|---|---|---|
| SkinnyRx, 12-month plan | $99 + 11 × $225 | $2,574 |
| SkinnyRx, month to month | $99 + 11 × $299 | $3,388 |
| TrimRx, prices in its terms | $349 + 11 × $399 | $4,738 |
| TrimRx, if $279 held all year | 12 × $279 (not confirmed) | $3,348 |
| TrimRx, 48-week prepay we recorded August 7 | Checkout total | $2,462 |
What the math says: Month to month, SkinnyRx saves about $650 a year on semaglutide and $1,350 on tirzepatide against TrimRx's listed prices. TrimRx's August prepay totals were lower than SkinnyRx's 12-month plans, but we recorded those three months ago. Check both at checkout before you commit to a long plan. More detail is in our SkinnyRx cost and TrimRx cost guides.
Check SkinnyRx's price at your plan lengthWhich has more choices?
SkinnyRx sells more ways to take a GLP-1:
- Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide shots, with a microdose option.
- Compounded semaglutide tablets: $149 first month, then $299 month to month.
- Compounded tirzepatide tablets: $199 first month, then $299 month to month. SkinnyRx's own page says the sublingual version is not yet FDA-approved.
- The FDA-approved Wegovy pill and Foundayo pill, "From $248/month" through a SkinnyRx membership.
See our reviews of SkinnyRx's tirzepatide tablets and SkinnyRx's oral semaglutide.
TrimRx's main program is compounded semaglutide ("GLP-1") and compounded tirzepatide ("GLP-1 + GIP"). Its terms also list Ozempic at $1,299 and Zepbound at $1,399 a month, and say branded drugs "may be available on a limited basis." But its footer says TrimRx "does not sell, dispense, or ship any branded medications." Those statements don't match. Ask TrimRx before you pay if you want a brand-name drug.
Refunds and canceling: SkinnyRx vs TrimRx
| SkinnyRx | TrimRx | |
|---|---|---|
| Not approved | Not charged; full refund in 24 to 48 hours | Full refund |
| Change your mind early | Full refund before the provider finishes the prescription review | Order canceled if the prescription hasn't gone to the pharmacy |
| Medicine already in process | No refund once fulfillment starts | That order goes through; canceling stops future orders |
| Prepaid or bundled months | Bundled plans are non-refundable; discounts may be reversed if you leave a committed plan early | Unused months refundable only if you ask within 28 days of paying |
| Partial months | No refunds | Not refunded after the 28-day window |
| Late shipping | Not stated | Refund if not shipped within 14 days of your order |
| Deadline to stop a renewal | At least 5 days before renewal, per its terms | Before the prescription goes to the pharmacy |
| How to cancel | Help center or 1-888-979-9580 | Account, chat or 888-896-1612 |
The big SkinnyRx rule: If you buy a 4-, 6- or 12-month plan to get the lower monthly price, SkinnyRx says bundled plans are non-refundable. Its FAQ also says discounts "may be reversed or proportionally adjusted" if you cancel before a committed term ends. Only commit if you're sure.
The big TrimRx rule: Refund requests must come within 28 days of the payment date. After that, you can still stop future orders, but the unused prepaid part won't come back.
How fast do you get your medicine?
SkinnyRx says a clinician reviews your intake and you may get a prescription "within 24 hours." Some states need a short video visit. It says you'll get shipping and tracking within 2 business days of the prescription, with free overnight shipping.
TrimRx says compounded medicine usually ships within 48 business hours after approval. Delivery takes 3 to 5 business days after it leaves the pharmacy, or about 4 to 7 business days from approval. See TrimRx shipping time.
Insurance, HSA/FSA and paying over time
Neither takes insurance for compounded plans.
- SkinnyRx says it doesn't accept commercial insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. It takes FSA/HSA cards and offers Affirm and Klarna. See does SkinnyRx accept HSA/FSA and does SkinnyRx accept Affirm.
- TrimRx says "No Insurance Needed." Its terms list Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover, "including eligible HSA/FSA cards," plus PayPal, Affirm, Klarna and Afterpay.
Your HSA or FSA plan decides what counts. Keep your receipts.
Where can you get each one?
SkinnyRx's terms say its compounded drugs are not sold in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi. It says branded drugs may be available in all states.
TrimRx's terms say it serves the 50 US states.
If you live in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi and want a compounded shot, TrimRx is the one of the two that can serve you.
FDA warning letters
SkinnyRx: On February 20, 2026, the FDA sent a warning letter to Lean Rx, Inc., which does business as SkinnyRx. The FDA said SkinnyRx's site showed "SkinnyRx" on pictured labels, which suggested SkinnyRx made the drugs when it does not. It also cited claims that the products had "the same active ingredient" as FDA-approved drugs. The FDA called the products misbranded. We found no close-out letter posted. A warning letter is the FDA's view, not a court ruling.
TrimRx: We found no FDA warning letter naming TrimRx or its company, Metafit Pharma Solutions LLC. That doesn't mean the FDA has reviewed its drugs. See Is TrimRx FDA-approved? and our GLP-1 compounding enforcement tracker.
Who runs each company?
SkinnyRx is run by Lean Rx, Inc. Its medical director is Sajad Zalzala, M.D. Its terms say Lean Rx is not a healthcare provider or a pharmacy, and that independent pharmacies fill prescriptions.
TrimRx is the brand of Metafit Pharma Solutions LLC in San Diego. TrimRx says it is "not a medical practice or a pharmacy." Its clinicians work through independent physician groups.
We don't show star ratings on this page. For what customers report, see our SkinnyRx reviews and TrimRx reviews.
When is TrimRx the better pick?
TrimRx makes more sense if:
- You live in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi, where SkinnyRx doesn't sell compounded drugs.
- You want a 28-day window to get unused prepaid months back.
- You want to pay with PayPal or Afterpay.
- You'd rather go with a company that has no FDA warning letter on record.

When is SkinnyRx the better pick?
SkinnyRx makes more sense if:
- You want the lowest month-to-month price of the two for a compounded shot.
- You want a low first month to see how you handle the drug.
- You might want a pill instead of a shot, including the FDA-approved Wegovy pill.
- You're comfortable with SkinnyRx's FDA letter and want to check how its marketing reads today.
Comparing SkinnyRx with others? See SkinnyRx vs MEDVi. MEDVi also received an FDA warning letter, which that page covers.
Want an FDA-approved drug or insurance help instead?
Neither company bills insurance. If you want Wegovy or Zepbound with an insurance check, Ro is the stronger fit. On November 4, Ro listed a $39 first month for its membership, then $74 to $149 a month by plan. The Wegovy pill was $149 to $299 a month by dose on top of that. Ro checks coverage for Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound pens for free.

- Take insulin or other diabetes drugs.
GLP-1 safety: do not use if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have MEN 2.
