Skinny Rx Oral Semaglutide Reviews: What You Actually Get in 2026

By WPG Research Team · Last verified

Skinny Rx oral semaglutide is now a compounded tablet that you dissolve between your gum and cheek. It costs $149 for the first month, then $299 a month on a monthly plan, per SkinnyRx's own pricing. Reviews are mixed. It fits cash buyers who avoid shots. If you want an FDA-approved semaglutide pill, the Wegovy pill is the better path.

That is the short version. The catch is in how the tablet is taken, what the FDA has said, and the price after month one. All three are below.

Bottom line: A real, licensed telehealth company selling a compounded product with no published absorption data. Fine for a careful buyer on a month-to-month plan. Not a sure bet.

Best for: Adults paying cash who want a needle-free daily option and are fine with compounded medicine.

Not best for: Anyone who wants FDA-approved medicine, wants to use insurance, or wants the strongest evidence that the dose gets into the body.

The factor that matters most: Whether a dissolving compounded tablet works for you. Nobody can promise it does, so start with one month and do not prepay a bundle.

What is Skinny Rx oral semaglutide now?

SkinnyRx's oral semaglutide is a compounded tablet taken once a day. Compounded means a pharmacy mixes the medicine for you. It is not the same as an FDA-approved drug, and the FDA does not check it for safety, effectiveness or quality before you get it.

You may have read older reviews about "sublingual semaglutide." That was a liquid you held under your tongue. On November 2, 2026, SkinnyRx's old sublingual product page sent us to its homepage. The homepage no longer lists the drops. It lists Compounded Semaglutide Tablets instead.

So if a review talks about droppers and bottles, it is about the old product. Reviews about the tablet are newer and fewer.

How do you take SkinnyRx semaglutide tablets?

You do not swallow this tablet. SkinnyRx's guide says to place it between your gum and cheek right after you wake up and let it dissolve all the way. Then you wait at least 30 minutes before you eat or drink anything, even water.

SkinnyRx's guide also says:

  • Do not move the tablet around with your tongue.
  • No gum, mints or brushing your teeth while it dissolves.
  • Wait about an hour before hard exercise.
  • No fridge needed. Keep it by your bed as a reminder.

This matters. The FDA-approved semaglutide pills work the opposite way. Their label says to swallow the tablet whole and never dissolve it. Your clinician sets your dose, so follow their plan, not a chart online.

Do Skinny Rx semaglutide tablets work?

Nobody has shown how much semaglutide a compounded dissolving tablet gets into your blood. SkinnyRx does not publish that data, and the FDA has not reviewed the product. Some buyers report weight loss and some report none, so treat it as a test, not a sure thing.

Here is why people doubt it. Semaglutide is a big molecule that is hard to absorb by mouth. Even the FDA-approved pill, Rybelsus, uses a special helper ingredient called SNAC. With it, the label says only about 0.4% to 1% of the dose gets absorbed, mostly in the stomach. That is why the brand pills carry much larger doses than the weekly shot.

A compounded tablet held in your cheek is a different product. Brand-name study results do not carry over to it. Even SkinnyRx's own product FAQ says studies have shown injections to be more preferable for weight loss.

Think of it like a phone charger from a brand you don't know. It might charge your phone fine. But nobody has tested it against the original, so you find out by trying.

Is there an FDA-approved semaglutide pill instead?

Yes. The Wegovy pill is FDA-approved oral semaglutide for weight loss. The FDA approved it on December 22, 2025, for adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related health problem. Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets are also FDA-approved oral semaglutide, but for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss.

The Wegovy pill's self-pay price rises with the dose. NovoCare lists $149 a month at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg and $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg. You still need a clinician to prescribe it. More on that in Wegovy pill cost and where to buy.

Want the FDA-approved pill but need someone to prescribe it? Ro's providers can prescribe the Wegovy pill. Ro lists it as cash pay. Its membership is $39 for the first month, then $149 a month, or as low as $74 a month if you prepay for a year. The medicine is billed on top of that. See Does Ro have the Wegovy pill?

What do real Skinny Rx oral semaglutide reviews say?

Public reviews of SkinnyRx are split. Trustpilot is very positive, BBB is mostly complaints, and Reddit posts about the oral form lean skeptical. None of these sites sorts reviews by product, so we read the ones that mention semaglutide or the oral form.

We do not publish customer quotes or testimonials. Here is what we found, in our own words, with links so you can read them yourself.

Source (checked November 2, 2026)ScoreWhat reviews about semaglutide or oral forms tend to say
Trustpilot4.8 from 5,418 reviewsMany praise a named support rep. Some on the oral form report slow, steady loss. Others report no change in appetite, or a renewal that went through before they canceled.
BBBB- rating; 1 out of 5 from 34 reviews166 complaints in 3 years, 88 in the last 12 months. The visible ones center on oral products not working, refunds refused on bundles, and next orders shipping before support replied.
Reddit, r/SemaglutideNot ratedA user who did well on SkinnyRx's semaglutide shots said the pill version seemed not to work for them.

How to read this. Trustpilot's score covers the whole company and every product, including shots. BBB is where unhappy buyers go, so it skews negative. Of the 166 BBB complaints, 64 were marked resolved, 101 answered and 1 unresolved. That means SkinnyRx usually responds. It does not mean buyers were happy.

The pattern is clear. The service side gets praise. The oral form's results and the bundle refund rules get the complaints.

Is SkinnyRx legit? What the FDA warning letter says

SkinnyRx is a real company, Lean Rx, Inc., in Sacramento, California, working with US-licensed providers. On February 20, 2026, the FDA sent it a warning letter. The letter was about how its website described compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, not about contamination.

The FDA objected to two things:

  1. Labels. Product images showed "SkinnyRx" on the label, which suggested SkinnyRx made the medicine. It does not. A separate pharmacy does.
  2. Claims. The site said things like its products had the "same active ingredient" as name-brand GLP-1s. The FDA said that implied FDA approval, and compounded drugs are not FDA-approved.

On November 2, 2026, SkinnyRx's tablet page said plainly that the FDA does not review or approve compounded medicines. That is the right message.

One more FDA point worth knowing. The FDA warns that some compounders use semaglutide "salt" forms, like semaglutide sodium. The FDA says those are different ingredients from the approved drug. SkinnyRx's tablet page does not say which form it uses, so ask before you start.

What do SkinnyRx semaglutide tablets really cost?

The first month is $149. After that, SkinnyRx's product page does not show the price. SkinnyRx's own site pricing lists the month-to-month plan renewing at $299. Longer prepaid plans cost less per month but are non-refundable.

Plan (SkinnyRx site pricing, November 2, 2026)Per monthRenews at
1 month$149 first month$299 a month
4 months$224.75$250 a month
10 months$217.40$225 a month

Check these numbers at checkout before you pay. The "per month" rate on a bundle is not what you pay each month. Ask whether the whole plan is charged today.

What's included, per SkinnyRx: the clinician review, the medicine and free overnight shipping. No insurance is used. SkinnyRx takes major credit cards and FSA/HSA cards, and it offers Affirm and Klarna. See Does SkinnyRx accept HSA/FSA?, Does Skinny Rx accept Affirm? and SkinnyRx cost.

Say you pay $149 for month one and stay on the monthly plan. Month two is $299. Six months on that plan comes to $1,644 ($149 plus five months at $299). That is before any dose change your clinician makes.

Can you cancel or get a refund?

You can cancel future months any time before your next shipment is prepared. But SkinnyRx only gives a full refund before a provider finishes your prescription review. After that, the order is yours, and bundles are non-refundable.

How to protect yourself:

  1. Start with one month. If the tablet doesn't work for you, you've lost $149, not a bundle.
  2. Know your refill date. SkinnyRx sends a monthly refill check-in. Cancel before the next shipment is prepared.
  3. Cancel in writing. Email support@skinnyrx.com or call 1-888-979-9580, and save the reply.
  4. Not approved? SkinnyRx says you won't be charged, and any payment is refunded in 24 to 48 hours.

If the tablets aren't working, tell your SkinnyRx clinician. Switching from a tablet to a shot is their medical call, not yours.

Okay with a compounded tablet, on a one-month plan? That is the lowest-risk way to try it.

Who should skip Skinny Rx oral semaglutide?

Skip it if you want FDA-approved medicine, plan to use insurance, or need proof the dose works. Those readers do better with the Wegovy pill or a brand-name shot. If you like compounded medicine but want a format with a long track record, a weekly compounded shot is the more common route.

Ask yourself two quick questions:

  • Is your BMI 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related condition? That is the usual starting point for GLP-1 care. A clinician decides.
  • Are you okay with a weekly shot? If yes, you have more options.

If you're fine with a shot and want compounded medicine with no membership fee, Embody is our pick. On November 2, 2026, its homepage listed compounded semaglutide shots at a flat $49 a month, and it says it accepts HSA/FSA. Confirm the current price at checkout. Embody's medicine is compounded and not FDA-approved too. Read our Embody reviews.

Safety note: GLP-1 medicines are not right for everyone. Do not use if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have MEN 2. SkinnyRx does not recommend GLP-1 medicine if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Common side effects include nausea and stomach upset.

FAQ

Is Skinny Rx oral semaglutide FDA-approved?

No. SkinnyRx's semaglutide tablets are compounded, and compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. The FDA-approved semaglutide pill for weight loss is the Wegovy pill. Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets are FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes.

Does Skinny Rx still sell sublingual semaglutide drops?

Not on its site as of November 2, 2026. The old sublingual product page now sends you to the homepage, and the homepage lists Compounded Semaglutide Tablets instead. Some of SkinnyRx's pages still use the word "sublingual" for the tablet.

How much is Skinny Rx oral semaglutide?

$149 for the first month. SkinnyRx's site pricing shows $299 a month after that on a monthly plan, or about $217 to $225 a month on a prepaid 10-month plan. Confirm the price at checkout.

Does Skinny Rx oral semaglutide work?

It works for some buyers and not for others, based on public reviews. SkinnyRx has not published how much of the tablet's dose your body absorbs, and the FDA has not reviewed it. Starting with one month is the safest way to find out.

Is Skinny Rx oral semaglutide the same as Rybelsus or the Wegovy pill?

No. Rybelsus and the Wegovy pill are FDA-approved brand-name drugs you swallow whole. SkinnyRx's tablet is compounded and dissolves in your cheek. Results from the brand-name studies do not apply to it.

Can I use HSA or FSA for Skinny Rx semaglutide tablets?

SkinnyRx says it accepts FSA/HSA cards. Whether your plan treats it as a qualified expense is a separate question for your plan administrator. More in Does SkinnyRx accept HSA/FSA?

Did the FDA warn SkinnyRx?

Yes. The FDA sent SkinnyRx a warning letter on February 20, 2026. It said the site's labels and "same active ingredient" style claims were misleading. It was about marketing, not product contamination.
