TrimRx Alternatives: Which One Fits Why You're Leaving

By WPG Research Team · Last verified

The best TrimRx alternative depends on why you're switching. If you want FDA-approved, brand-name medicine or help using your insurance, Ro is our top pick. If you want to stay on compounded medicine at a flat monthly price with no membership fee, Embody is our top pick. If you already have a prescription and want the lowest brand-name cash price, the drug makers sell Wegovy and Zepbound direct.

Weight Loss Provider Guide is an independent comparison resource for GLP-1 telehealth providers.

What are you switching away from?

TrimRx is a telehealth platform. Its main program is compounded GLP-1 medicine. Compounded medicines are made by a pharmacy for you and are not FDA-approved. TrimRx says it "does not sell, dispense, or ship any branded medications." If its provider prescribes a brand like Wegovy, you fill it at your own pharmacy and pay the full cost.

What TrimRx listed on October 31, 2026:

  • Compounded GLP-1 (semaglutide): starting at $179 a month.
  • Compounded GLP-1 + GIP (tirzepatide): starting at $279 a month.
  • Where: all 50 states, no PO boxes.
  • Insurance: not accepted. See Does TrimRx accept insurance?

TrimRx says your price stays the same as your dose changes. If price, dose and service are all working for you, you may not need to switch. For the full plan math, see TrimRx cost and our TrimRx reviews.

Which option fits comes down to a few questions: your state, your budget, whether you have insurance that might cover a GLP-1, and whether you want FDA-approved or compounded medicine. Our free tool asks those questions for you.

Ro: best TrimRx alternative for FDA-approved medicine and insurance

Ro is the strongest switch if you want brand-name medicine. Ro-affiliated providers can prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1s such as the Wegovy pill and Zepbound. TrimRx doesn't sell those. Ro also checks your insurance, and if your plan needs prior authorization, Ro's insurance team submits the paperwork for you.

What to know before you switch to Ro:

  • Membership: $39 for the first month, then $149 a month, or as low as $74 a month if you prepay for a year.
  • Medicine is extra. What you pay depends on the drug and your coverage. Some options, such as the Wegovy pill and Zepbound KwikPen, are cash pay only through Ro.
  • Ozempic is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes. Ro says it may be prescribed off-label for weight loss at a provider's discretion.
  • Speed: Ro says you'll know if you're eligible within 2 days.

The trade-off is cost. Brand-name medicine plus a membership usually costs more than a compounded plan unless your insurance helps. Insurance is where Ro tends to win. Compare the two head to head in TrimRx vs Ro, or read our Ro review.

Embody: best TrimRx alternative for compounded medicine

Embody is the closest like-for-like switch if you want to stay on compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. On October 31, 2026, its homepage listed compounded GLP-1 shots at a flat rate of $49 a month and GLP-1/GIP shots at $99 a month, with no membership fee. Like TrimRx, Embody's medicines are compounded and not FDA-approved.

Why TrimRx users look at Embody:

  • No membership fee. Embody says there are no membership or hidden fees.
  • Price doesn't rise with your dose. Embody says your price stays the same as long as you stay on the same medicine and plan.
  • Transfer at your current dose. Embody asks for proof of your current prescription. If its provider agrees, you can continue at your current dose.
  • HSA/FSA. Embody's homepage says "HSA/FSA Approved."
  • Canceling: Embody needs your request at least 72 hours before your next billing date.

Brand-name direct from the drug makers

If you already have a prescription, or your doctor will write one, you can buy some brand-name GLP-1s straight from the companies that make them:

  • Wegovy (NovoCare): the Wegovy pill starts at $149 a month at the 1.5 mg dose. New self-pay patients pay $199 a month for the first 2 months of the Wegovy pen at the two lowest doses (through December 31, 2026), then $349 a month.
  • Zepbound (LillyDirect): single-dose vials cost $299 a month at 2.5 mg, $399 at 5 mg and $449 at higher doses if you refill within 45 days. Needles and syringes cost extra.

These programs sell the medicine. They don't give you a clinician. If you need someone to prescribe, Ro's providers can prescribe Wegovy and Zepbound. More on this route in TrimRx vs LillyDirect.

How do you switch from TrimRx without a gap?

Switching takes two jobs: stop TrimRx's renewals, and get your new prescription lined up. Your new clinician decides your medicine and dose. Don't change, stop or switch medicine on your own.

  1. Find your next billing date. It's under My plans in your TrimRx portal.
  2. Start with the new provider first. Finish the new provider's intake before you cancel, so you know if you're approved.
  3. Cancel TrimRx before that billing date. In the portal, go to My plans and choose "Cancel Subscription," or ask TrimRx in chat. Canceling stops future charges but doesn't refund one that already went through.
  4. Know what still ships. TrimRx says an order that's already with the pharmacy can't be canceled.
  5. Tell your new clinician what you take now. Share your current medicine and dose. Moving from compounded to brand-name medicine is a medical decision your clinician makes.

When should you stay with TrimRx?

Stay if TrimRx's price and dose are working and you don't need insurance or FDA-approved medicine. TrimRx says your price doesn't change as your dose changes. Switching providers can mean a new intake and a wait for approval, so only switch if the new option fixes the reason you want to leave.

Safety note: GLP-1 medicines are not right for everyone. Do not use one if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have MEN 2.
