Wegovy pill cost in 2026: $149/month for 1.5 mg (and 4 mg through August 31, 2026 per Wegovy.com); $299/month for 9 mg and 25 mg. With commercial insurance that covers Wegovy, you may pay as low as $25/month.

The Wegovy pill (semaglutide tablets) was FDA-approved on December 22, 2025, and became broadly available January 5, 2026 at 70,000+ U.S. pharmacies. In clinical trials, adults taking the 25 mg tablet lost an average of 14% of their body weight at 64 weeks.

Where to Buy the Wegovy Pill Online (Channel Comparison)

The medication price is set by Novo Nordisk — so the drug cost is the same benchmark across every channel. What changes your real monthly cost is platform fees, membership costs, and what’s included. We compared the main channels side by side.

Quick Decision Guide

"I want the simplest path from zero to pill in hand."

Ro. Online health assessment, provider review, and — if appropriate — the pill shipped to your door. Cash-pay patients can take their first dose in less than a week.

"I already have a prescription from my doctor."

NovoCare Pharmacy. Lowest drug-only cost, no membership fee, free home delivery.

"I think my insurance might cover Wegovy."

Call your insurer with our script below. Note: through Ro, the Wegovy pill is currently cash-pay only — Ro supports insurance for the Wegovy pen, but not the pill at this time.

"I want weight-loss coaching alongside my medication."

WeightWatchers Med+ bundles clinical care with the WW program.

"I want to walk into a pharmacy."

Ask your doctor for a Wegovy tablet prescription and fill it at CVS, Costco, or another participating pharmacy. Availability can vary — ask your pharmacist to order it if needed.

Ro vs. NovoCare: Which Path Makes Sense for You?

Both offer the same Novo Nordisk medication at the same manufacturer-set drug prices. The difference is everything around the drug.

The honest tradeoff

Ro is not the cheapest path to the Wegovy pill. If you already have a Wegovy prescription and only care about the lowest per-month drug cost, NovoCare Pharmacy at $149–$299/month with no platform fee and free home delivery is the most direct option. We’d rather you know that upfront than discover it after clicking through.

But NovoCare doesn’t prescribe. It doesn’t evaluate you. It doesn’t manage your dosing or monitor side effects. It’s a fulfillment pharmacy — an excellent one, but still just a pharmacy.

Ro handles the entire journey: health assessment, provider review, prescription (if appropriate), and delivery. The membership also includes ongoing provider access and support tools. That convenience costs $45 for your first month and $145/month ongoing — about $1,640 in membership fees over a year.

Use NovoCare if:
  • You already have a Wegovy prescription
  • You want the absolute lowest drug-only cost
  • You’re comfortable managing your own refills and dosing
Go to NovoCare guide
Use Ro if:
  • You don’t have a prescription yet
  • You want a provider managing your care and available for questions
  • You’d rather pay more for a fully guided experience

How Much Does the Wegovy Pill Cost Without Insurance?

Without insurance, Wegovy pill prices depend on your dose:

Starter/Escalation Doses
  • 1.5 mg: $149/month
  • 4 mg: $149 → $199/month
  • 9 mg: $299/month

4 mg is $149 through August 31, 2026 per Wegovy.com, then $199/month

Maintenance Dose
  • 25 mg: $299/month

This is the ongoing dose after completing titration

What Does "Per Month" Mean?

Wegovy tablets are taken once daily. A "month" equals a 30-day supply, which matches the official titration schedule (days 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, then day 91+ for maintenance).

First-Year Cost Estimate (Self-Pay)

Using the labeled dosing schedule:

  • Month 1 (1.5 mg): $149
  • Month 2 (4 mg): $149 or $199*
  • Month 3 (9 mg): $299
  • Months 4-12 (25 mg x 9 months): $2,691

Estimated first-year total:$3,288 - $3,338

*4 mg remains $149 through August 31, 2026 per Wegovy.com. Includes drug costs only—not clinic visits, labs, or telehealth fees.

Why Do Some Sites Show Wegovy Costing $1,300+?

Novo Nordisk's U.S. list price for Wegovy is $1,349.02 per package. That's the number price-comparison sites display before any manufacturer offers or insurance discounts apply. The $149-$299 prices above are Novo Nordisk's published self-pay offers—not the raw list price.

How Much Does the Wegovy Pill Cost With Insurance?

If you have commercial insurance that covers Wegovy, you may pay as low as $25/month using the Wegovy Savings Offer. This is subject to:

  • Maximum savings of $100/month
  • Government beneficiaries excluded

The Catch: Your Plan Still Has to Cover It

The savings offer only works if your insurance already covers Wegovy. Many employer plans require prior authorization for weight-loss medications, which means your doctor must submit documentation proving you meet the criteria.

Insurance Call Script (Copy This)

When you call your insurance, ask:

  1. 1"Is WEGOVY tablets (semaglutide) covered under my pharmacy benefit?"
  2. 2"Is there a prior authorization requirement? What criteria are needed?"
  3. 3"What's my expected copay at a preferred pharmacy?"
  4. 4"Are there restrictions on quantity, refills, or dose changes during titration?"
  5. 5"Is coverage different for Wegovy tablets vs. the injection?"

Have your BMI and any weight-related diagnoses ready—insurers commonly ask.

Medicare

Traditional Medicare rules have generally excluded anti-obesity drugs. However, CMS has announced the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge for eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries, beginning July 1, 2026. Under this program, eligible enrollees will pay $50 per month for covered GLP-1 medications (Wegovy and Zepbound) for weight management. The program runs through December 31, 2026, as a bridge to the longer-term BALANCE Model launching in January 2027. (Source: CMS.gov)

Medicaid

Coverage varies by state. According to KFF, 13 state Medicaid fee-for-service programs covered GLP-1 medications for obesity treatment as of January 2026. Check your state’s drug formulary for current status.

Note about Ro and insurance: Through Ro, the Wegovy pill is currently cash-pay only. If you want to use insurance specifically for the Wegovy pill, your best path is through your own doctor and a retail pharmacy.

Red Flags to Avoid

Treat these as stop signs:

  • "Wegovy pill" sold without a prescription
  • Prices that seem too good to be true
  • Bulk vials or "research peptides"
  • Unclear pharmacy licensing
  • No pharmacist contact information

The FDA has issued warnings about unapproved GLP-1 products sold online and safety issues (including dosing errors) with compounded semaglutide.

What Is the Wegovy Pill?

The Wegovy pill is WEGOVY tablets (semaglutide)—an oral GLP-1 receptor agonist. According to the FDA label, it is indicated in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity:

  • To reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (CV death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, or non-fatal stroke) in adults with established CV disease and either obesity or overweight
  • To reduce excess body weight and maintain weight reduction long term in adults with obesity, or in adults with overweight in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition

Novo Nordisk describes it as the first and only oral GLP-1 for weight loss in adults. The FDA approved it on December 22, 2025, and it became broadly available on January 5, 2026.

This page covers U.S. pricing, prescribing, and availability. Availability outside the U.S. depends on local regulatory approvals and supply. The tablets come in four strengths: 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg, and 25 mg.

Who Qualifies for the Wegovy Pill?

Per FDA labeling, Wegovy tablets are indicated for adults with:

  • Obesity (BMI 30+)
  • Overweight (BMI 27+) plus at least one weight-related comorbid condition (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, etc.)

Wegovy tablets are also indicated to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with established heart disease and either obesity or overweight.

The Wegovy injection is approved for adolescents 12+ with obesity—but the pill is adults only.
