SkinnyRx vs Hers: Which GLP-1 Program Fits You?
By WPG Research Team · Last verified · Last updated
SkinnyRx vs Hers comes down to one choice: compounded or brand-name. SkinnyRx sells compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide from $99 for the first month, plus brand-name pills. Hers sells brand-name drugs like Wegovy and Zepbound, from $149 a month for medicine, plus a $149 monthly membership after month one. Neither takes insurance.
We checked both sites, their terms and FDA's records on November 7, 2026. Here's the side-by-side, what each one is really best at, and which way we'd lean for different readers.
Weight Loss Provider Guide is an independent comparison resource for GLP-1 telehealth providers.
Bottom line: Pick SkinnyRx if a low first-month price on compounded medicine matters most and you accept that compounded drugs aren't FDA-approved. Pick a brand-name program if you want FDA-approved medicine. For brand-name, Hers and Ro list the same starting cash prices for the Wegovy pill and pen. Ro also has a cheaper 12-month membership and checks insurance.
Best for SkinnyRx: Budget-first, cash-pay adults outside Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi who are fine with compounded shots or tablets.
Best for a brand-name program: People who want Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo and the safety record of an FDA-approved product.
What matters most: Both companies have received FDA warning letters about how they marketed compounded GLP-1s. Read them before you choose.

The real difference: compounded vs FDA-approved
SkinnyRx's lowest prices are for compounded drugs. Hers' weight-loss page now lists only brand-name drugs. That's the choice under every other number on this page.
- Compounded means a pharmacy mixes the drug itself. FDA doesn't review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality before you get them. SkinnyRx's own footer says compounded semaglutide "is not approved or evaluated for safety, efficacy, or quality by the FDA."
- Brand-name, FDA-approved means the drugmaker's own product, like Wegovy or Zepbound, reviewed by FDA and made to set standards.
Neither choice is right for everyone. A tight budget may point one way. A wish for the most-studied product may point the other. If you're not sure which camp you're in, start there before comparing brands.

Price: SkinnyRx vs Hers
SkinnyRx is cheaper in month one if you choose compounded. For brand-name pills, the math is closer than it looks.
| Option | SkinnyRx (first month shown) | Hers (medicine + membership) |
|---|---|---|
| Compounded semaglutide injection | $99 | Not listed |
| Compounded tirzepatide injection | $99 | Not listed |
| Compounded semaglutide tablets | $149 | Not listed |
| Compounded tirzepatide tablets | $199 | Not listed |
| Wegovy pill (brand) | From $248/month via membership | From $149/month + membership |
| Foundayo pill (brand) | From $248/month via membership | $149/month + membership |
| Wegovy pen (brand) | Not listed on homepage | From $199/month + membership |
| Zepbound (brand) | Not listed on homepage | Vial from $299/month + membership |
Our math for a Wegovy pill at Hers, starting dose: $39 + $149 = $188 in month one, then $149 + $149 = $298 a month after that. At SkinnyRx, ask whether "from $248/month" covers the pill itself or only the membership. If it covers both, SkinnyRx would be about $50 a month less than Hers from month two.
SkinnyRx's first-month compounded prices usually rise in later months. See our SkinnyRx cost breakdown and Hers GLP-1 cost breakdown for the longer view, and whether Hers has a membership fee.
Insurance, HSA and FSA
Neither SkinnyRx nor Hers bills insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. SkinnyRx's terms say it doesn't "accept commercial health insurance plans" and isn't enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid. Hers' terms say it doesn't participate with Medicare, Medicaid or commercial payers, and that its membership "is not an insurance plan."
For HSA and FSA money:
- SkinnyRx accepts HSA and FSA cards and offers itemized receipts or superbills on request. No guarantee your plan approves it.
- Hers suggests paying with a regular card and then sending the receipt to your HSA or FSA for reimbursement.
If your insurance might cover a brand-name GLP-1, neither of these is your best first stop. Our page on whether SkinnyRx takes insurance explains the cash-only rules, and does Hers take insurance covers Hers.
Refunds and cancelling
SkinnyRx gives you a clearer exit before your prescription is reviewed. Hers keeps your first membership fee no matter what.
| Situation | SkinnyRx | Hers |
|---|---|---|
| You cancel before a clinician reviews you | Full refund | First-month membership fee non-refundable |
| You're not eligible | Refund in 24 to 48 hours | Terms don't list a separate refund; first-month membership fee is non-refundable |
| Medicine already shipped | Non-refundable once fulfillment starts | No refund on shipped medicine |
| Stopping your next charge | Cancel at least 5 days before renewal | Cancel at least 2 days before billing for a medicine refund |
| Guarantee | 90-day money-back guarantee, with strict logging rules | None found |
The SkinnyRx guarantee has real strings. You must log your weight and every dose in its app each week for 90 days, end at the same weight or higher, and claim within 14 days. It's one-time only. Also note: SkinnyRx may charge renewals up to five days early.
Pharmacies and safety records
SkinnyRx doesn't name its pharmacies in its terms. Hers names several, including Red Rock Pharmacy in Utah. SkinnyRx says its medicines are dispensed by "independent third-party pharmacies" it doesn't own. Hers' terms list its pharmacies by name. One of them, CD Pharmacy LLC doing business as Red Rock Pharmacy, received an FDA inspection report (Form 483) at its Springville, Utah site in July 2026. We explain that record in what pharmacy MEDVi uses, since MEDVi also lists Red Rock.
Both companies have FDA warning letters:
- SkinnyRx (February 20, 2026): FDA said SkinnyRx's site suggested it made compounded drugs it doesn't make, and objected to "same active ingredient" claims about brand-name drugs. Read the FDA warning letter to SkinnyRx.
- Hers (September 9, 2025): FDA objected to Hers' claims that its compounded semaglutide had the "same active ingredient as Ozempic and Wegovy." Read the FDA warning letter to Hims & Hers.
A warning letter is about marketing claims, not proof a company is fake. For more, see is SkinnyRx legit and is Hers weight loss legit.
Safety note for any GLP-1: do not use one if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). That warning is on the FDA labels for brand-name GLP-1s. A licensed clinician decides if any GLP-1 is right for you.
When SkinnyRx is the better pick
Choose SkinnyRx if price in the first months matters most and you're comfortable with compounded medicine.
- You want semaglutide or tirzepatide and can't fit a $298-a-month brand-name bill.
- You'd like a tablet option and know compounded tablets are not FDA-approved.
- You want a full refund if you change your mind before a clinician reviews you.
- You don't live in Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi.
Here's the reader SkinnyRx fits: a cash payer with no GLP-1 coverage, a firm monthly budget, and a willingness to read the FDA letter and check the pharmacy label on the first box.
Check if you qualify with SkinnyRxWhen a brand-name program is the better pick
Choose a brand-name program if you want FDA-approved Wegovy, Zepbound or Foundayo. Hers is one option. Ro is another, and on November 7, 2026 it listed the same starting cash prices: the Wegovy pill and Foundayo pill at $149 a month and the Wegovy pen at $199 a month.
Where Ro differs from Hers:
- Membership: Ro charges $39 the first month (refunded if you're not eligible), then $74 to $149 a month. On Ro's 12-month plan, a Wegovy pill works out to about $223 a month by our math, vs $298 at Hers.
- Insurance: Ro checks coverage for the Wegovy pen, Zepbound pen and Ozempic, and handles prior authorization. Hers doesn't bill insurance.
- Product: Ro sells only FDA-approved GLP-1s.

For a brand-name Wegovy pill, Hers costs about $188 in month one and $298 a month after that, by our math. Ask SkinnyRx whether its "from $248/month" includes the medicine.
Does Hers sell compounded semaglutide?
Hers' weight-loss page listed only brand-name drugs, such as Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo, when we checked on November 7, 2026. FDA's September 2025 warning letter to Hims & Hers was about earlier compounded semaglutide marketing.

Neither one. Both are cash-pay and don't bill commercial insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. SkinnyRx accepts HSA and FSA cards. Hers suggests paying by card and submitting for reimbursement.

Which has a better refund policy?
SkinnyRx gives a full refund if you cancel before a clinician finishes reviewing your prescription, and it has a 90-day money-back guarantee with strict conditions. Hers says the first-month membership fee is non-refundable.
