Remedy Meds vs Ro: Compounded or FDA-Approved GLP-1?
By WPG Research Team · Last verified · Last updated
Remedy Meds vs Ro is really compounded vs FDA-approved. Remedy sells compounded semaglutide at $299 every 4 weeks ($179 to start), all in. Ro sells only FDA-approved brands, like the Wegovy pill from $149, plus a membership ($39 first month, then $74 to $149 a month). Want insurance help or an FDA-approved drug? Ro. Want one flat price? Remedy.
Below: what each really costs, the fine print on Remedy's "money-back" warranty, and who should pick which.
Weight Loss Provider Guide is an independent comparison resource for GLP-1 telehealth providers.
Bottom line: These are two different kinds of medicine. Ro is the pick for FDA-approved drugs and insurance. Remedy is a flat-price compounded option with strict warranty rules.
Best for Ro: People who want an FDA-approved drug, or whose insurance may cover one.
Best for Remedy Meds: Cash payers who are fine with compounded medicine and want one price at every dose.
Not best for either: Anyone pregnant or under 18. GLP-1 safety: do not use if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have MEN 2.
What matters most: FDA-approved or compounded. Decide that first.

See your GLP-1 match in about 2 minutesThe big difference: compounded vs FDA-approved
Ro sells brand-name drugs like Wegovy, Zepbound, and Foundayo. The FDA has approved these for weight loss. See is Ro's GLP-1 FDA-approved?
Remedy Meds sells compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide. These are made by licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies. They are not the same as Wegovy or Zepbound.
The FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. It does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they are sold. The FDA says they may make sense when a patient's need can't be met by an approved drug.
On September 9, 2025, the FDA sent Remedy Meds a warning letter. It said Remedy's website claims that its compounded drugs had the "same active ingredient" as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound were false or misleading, because they implied the products were the same as FDA-approved drugs. More: GLP-1 compounding enforcement actions and is compounded semaglutide safe?
We found no FDA warning letter to Ro when we searched the FDA's warning letter database.
One more thing to know: Remedy's results numbers, like its "94.6%" success rate, come from weights its members reported themselves. Its own fine print also says the members shown in its stories were paid for their testimonials.
Is Remedy Meds cheaper than Ro?
It depends on the dose. At the lowest dose, Ro's Wegovy pill costs about the same as Remedy's compounded semaglutide. At higher doses, Remedy costs less, because its price does not change.
Remedy ships a 4-week supply every 28 days. Its product page labels the price "/mo," but that means 13 bills a year. Ro bills monthly, so 12 bills a year.
| Plan, drug | First bill | Each bill after | Year one |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remedy, compounded semaglutide | $179 | $299 every 4 weeks | $179 + (12 × $299) = $3,767 (13 bills) |
| Remedy, compounded tirzepatide | $279 | $399 every 4 weeks | $279 + (12 × $399) = $5,067 (13 bills) |
| Ro monthly, Wegovy pill 1.5 mg ($149) | $39 + $149 = $188 | $149 + $149 = $298 | $1,678 fee + $1,788 drug = $3,466 |
| Ro 12-month plan, Wegovy pill 1.5 mg | $39 + $149 = $188 | $888 fee once (12 months), plus $149 a month for the pill | $39 + $888 + $1,788 = $2,715 |
| Ro monthly, Wegovy pill 4 mg ($199) | — | $149 + $199 = $348 | — |
| Ro monthly, Zepbound pen 2.5 mg ($299) | $39 + $299 = $338 | $149 + $299 = $448 | — |
| Ro monthly, Zepbound pen 7.5 mg and up ($449 with offer) | — | $149 + $449 = $598 | — |
How we got Ro's monthly-plan fee: $39 + (11 × $149) = $1,678. Ro says that after your first month you pay $74 to $149 a month, depending on the plan you pick. The 12-month plan is $888 paid up front, which works out to $74 a month and covers 12 months, so it runs one month past year one. Ro shows the exact charge dates at checkout.
Most people start at a low dose and move up. Ro's year-one total will rise as your dose does. We left those cells blank rather than guess your dose schedule.
Ro's cash prices match LillyDirect, NovoCare, and TrumpRx, per Ro's pricing page. Some Ro prices are offers that require you to sign up by December 31, 2026. For more on the pill, see does Ro have the Wegovy pill?
Want the FDA-approved route at a set cash price? Ro lists every dose price before you start.
See Ro's FDA-approved optionsDo Remedy Meds or Ro take insurance?
Remedy Meds: No. Its terms say it is cash pay only and does not accept insurance.
Ro: Yes, for three drugs: the Wegovy pen, the Zepbound pen, and Ozempic. Ro's team handles the prior authorization (the form your plan may need before it pays). Ro says the insurance review usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks, and the whole process can take 1 to 3 weeks. Insurance never pays the Ro membership.
Medicare, TRICARE and Medicaid: Ro offers cash-pay options for Medicare, Medicare supplement, and TRICARE members. Ro says Medicaid members aren't eligible for treatment. Remedy takes no insurance of any kind. For the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, see our Medicare bridge guide.
HSA/FSA: Remedy accepts HSA/FSA cards. Ro does not take HSA/FSA cards. You can pay another way and send Ro's receipt to your plan. See does Ro take HSA/FSA?

Check your coverage with RoRemedy's 365-day warranty: what you must do to get paid
Remedy's sales page says "Hit your goal weight, or your money back — terms apply." Its terms (updated June 4, 2026) set the rules. To get a refund, you must:
- Be a new customer and set a goal weight when you sign up.
- Stay on a standard dose of compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide. Switching to a brand-name drug or a microdose plan voids it.
- Not have used other weight loss drugs in the 12 months before you join.
- Stay enrolled for 12 months in a row, with no lapse or pause.
- Get all 13 shipments on time (one every 28 days).
- Pick a goal weight within limits. It can't be more than a 20% drop, or a BMI under 18.5.
- File your claim by email within 35 days after your 13th shipment, with a provider's written note or a short scale video, as its terms describe.
If you qualify, Remedy refunds the program fees you paid over those 12 months. There are no partial refunds. Costs like a doctor's note are not paid back.
One conflict: Remedy's product page says the warranty is "only valid for month-to-month plans." But its terms say it applies "regardless of the subscription format," including 3-, 6- and 12-month bundles. Ask Remedy in writing which rule applies to you.

What the sales page says vs. what the terms say
| Topic | What the sales page says | What the terms say |
|---|---|---|
| Remedy: warranty | "Hit your goal weight, or your money back" | Only after 12 straight months and 13 shipments, with the limits above |
| Remedy: refunds | "Not prescribed? You're never charged." | Otherwise no refunds once you pay, even if you cancel mid-term |
| Remedy: cancelling | "Cancel anytime" | Cancel at least 48 hours before your term ends |
| Ro: price | $39 first month | Then $74 to $149 a month, plus the medicine, billed separately |
| Ro: refunds | $39 refunded if you're not eligible | Membership fee is non-refundable once paid, unless you are never prescribed |
How do you cancel Remedy Meds or Ro?
Remedy Meds: Tell Remedy you want to cancel at least 48 hours before your current term ends. You keep service until the end of the term you paid for. Remedy does not refund a payment once it goes through.
Ro: Cancel in your account ("Cancel Subscription") or by email, at least 48 hours before your next renewal. Ro does not refund the membership once you've paid, unless you were never prescribed.
When is Remedy Meds the better pick?
We'll say it plainly: if you are fine with compounded medicine and plan to reach a higher dose, Remedy can cost less than Ro. Its price stays the same as your dose goes up. It also takes HSA/FSA cards and serves all 50 states. Remedy is not a partner of ours, so there is no Remedy button on this page.
If you are open to compounded medicine, compare Remedy with Embody, our top pick for compounded. On November 2, 2026, Embody's storefront listed compounded semaglutide at $79 for one month, or $588 for 12 months ($49 a month). Compounded tirzepatide was $129 for one month, or $1,188 for 12 months ($99 a month). Embody has no membership fee and says it accepts HSA/FSA. Those prices are well below Remedy's $299 and $399. Who should talk to a doctor first?
See your own doctor before using either service if you:
- Are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- Are under 18.
- Have had pancreatitis.
- Take insulin or other diabetes drugs.
GLP-1 safety: do not use if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer (MTC), or if you have MEN 2.

FAQ
Is Remedy Meds FDA-approved?
No. Remedy Meds sells compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide. The FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. Ro sells only FDA-approved brands.
Is Remedy Meds cheaper than Ro?
At the lowest dose, they cost about the same: $299 every 4 weeks at Remedy vs $298 a month for Ro's Wegovy pill plus its monthly fee. At higher doses, Remedy is cheaper, because its price stays flat. Ro is cheaper at the lowest dose if you prepay its 12-month plan.
Does Remedy Meds take insurance?
No. Remedy is cash pay only. It does accept HSA/FSA cards. If you want to use insurance, Ro works with insurance for the Wegovy pen, Zepbound pen, and Ozempic.
Is Remedy's money-back guarantee real?
It exists, but it is hard to qualify for. You must stay enrolled 12 months in a row, get all 13 shipments on time, and file within 35 days after the last one. If you qualify, you get back the program fees, not other costs.
Does Ro take HSA or FSA cards?
No. Ro does not accept HSA/FSA cards. You can pay with a credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay and send the receipt to your plan.
Can I switch from Remedy Meds to Ro?
Yes, you can apply to Ro at any time. A Ro clinician decides if a brand-name drug is right for you and at what dose. Don't change doses on your own.
