Does Strut Health Accept HSA/FSA?
By WPG Research Team · Last verified
Sometimes. Strut takes all major credit cards, and you can try your HSA or FSA card, but Strut warns the charge "may be rejected by the card issuer." Strut won't write a letter of medical necessity. It can give you receipts and prescription details, which you can send to your plan to ask for repayment.

Quick facts (checked October 31, 2026)
- HSA/FSA card at checkout: You can try it. Strut says your card issuer may decline it.
- Letter of medical necessity (LMN): Strut does not write one.
- Receipts: Yes. Download them in your Patient Portal or ask Strut for them.
- Insurance: Not accepted. Strut is cash pay only.
- Strut's GLP-1 prices: Compounded semaglutide shots as low as $129 a month; compounded tirzepatide shots from $149 a month.
Can you pay Strut Health with an HSA or FSA card?
You can try. Strut's FAQ says it "accepts all major credit cards" and that "charges to HSA and FSA cards may be rejected by the card issuer."
That last part matters. Strut doesn't block HSA or FSA cards. The company that runs your card decides. Some HSA and FSA cards only approve charges from merchants they class as medical. If the charge doesn't go through, you can pay with a regular card and ask your plan to pay you back.
Tip: Before you check out, call the number on the back of your HSA or FSA card. Ask if online telehealth charges are approved, and what paperwork they want if you file a claim later.
Will Strut give you a letter of medical necessity?
No. Strut says that because it is "a cash pay telemedicine practice" that doesn't bill insurance, it does "not complete insurance Medical Necessity Forms, prior authorization forms, or Letters of Medical Necessity for reimbursement purposes."
What Strut will give you:
- Receipts. You can download them from your Patient Portal.
- Prescription details. Strut says it can share your prescription information on request.
If your plan asks for a letter of medical necessity, you'll need to get it from another doctor, such as your primary care doctor. Ask your plan first, because not every plan asks for one for prescription medicines.
Does a GLP-1 from Strut count as an HSA/FSA expense?
It can, but your plan makes the final call. IRS Publication 502 says you can include "amounts you pay for prescribed medicines and drugs" as medical expenses. It also says weight-loss program costs count when weight loss "is a treatment for a specific disease diagnosed by a physician (such as obesity, hypertension, or heart disease)."
Strut's GLP-1 medicines need a prescription. Most are compounded. Compounded medicines are made by a pharmacy for you and are not FDA-approved. Your plan may treat compounded medicines and program fees in its own way, so keep every receipt and ask before you count on being paid back.
| Strut GLP-1 option | Price on Strut's site |
